6,7. There is a post-graduate course on Mining and Metallurgy and specialized
K 067.46.01 Scientific Council conducting defenses of dissertations in the institute.
5 papers on candidate degree and 2 papers on doctor degree have been successfully
defended.
8. There is a library equipped with computers in the institute. It consists
of two reading halls serving 120 students. There are also departments of the
library in the students' dormitories of Almalik and Zarafshan. The general fund
of the library is 67632 books. The number of existed electronic literature is
140. 10 computers of Computer Center in the library are used by students and
post graduates.
10. The lyceum of Navoi Mining Institute is a specialized secondary educational
school, where students from Navoi and other regions, having 9th form certificate,
can get high qualified education and develop their creative ability.
More than 250 students can study at the lyceum, studying lasts 3 years. During
this period students learn mathematics, physics, informatics, native language
and literature, foreign languages, chemistry and biology deeply and certificated.
Laboratories, rooms equipped with lingua phones and computer rooms operating
in the local net of the lyceum give an opportunity to conduct the lesson in
required level.
11. For broad cooperation of scholastic and scientific work on the base of
agreements conducts a work with Moscow Mining Institute, Moscow Institute of
steel and alloys, Moscow University of Mining Geology, Ukrainian National Mining
University, with scientific centers on chemical technologies and inorganic joining
of Russian Federation and with the Institute of computing technologies under
the Siberian branch of Academy of Sciences of Russia.
Institute participates in the project of "Tempus-TASIS" for distance
teaching in the high educational institutes of Uzbekistan and Europe. For this
purpose institute cooperates with Germany and Holland.
From the beginning of its foundation institute annually holds scientific- practical
conference "Istiqlol" devoted to the problems of mining industry (with
participation of foreign scientists).
12. Teachers and professors of the institute successfully passed all requirements
of "Ustoz" fund, which gave them the opportunity to increase their
knowledge and qualification abroad. 17 teachers were sent to Moscow Mining Institute,
Moscow Institute of steel and alloys, Moscow University of Mining Geology and
Tomsk Polytechnical Institute to improve their qualification.
12. There is a modern preventorium and policlinics of Navoi Mining Institute
where students and teachers of the institute can be treated and have a rest.
13,14. There are all conditions including tennis courts, volleyball and basketball
fields for keeping students healthy.
15. There is a four -storied students' dormitory with all convenience in it. The dormitory can accommodate 250 students.
17. 4 monographs and 10 textbooks expressing scientific researches were published
by the professors and teachers of the institute.
For the first time in the Republic, "Uzbekistan Mountain Herald" journal
is registered and released by the institute.

18. In accordance with main principles of social and economical development
of the Republic, institute carries out scientific researches at the governmental
budget expense at the rate of 10 millions and has economical contacts with big
enterprises at the rate of 12 millions. Post- graduates, masters and bachelors
are widely involved in these investigations and as the result, a new scientific
school on "Open cast mining" and "Underground mining" appeared.
At present time, they have already published more than hundred scientific articles
in the republic as well as abroad and took out 20 patents.
"Society of masters and capable students" was organized by the initiative
of institutes' scientific school and it directs to unite the students, their
energy and knowledge by involving them in scientific processes, which helps
them to show their intellectual abilities.
